We had an amazing hiking experience with Guias de Alturas. We went up to Pico Duarte with our 2 kids aged 7 and 9. For sure, it’s tough and long but it really worth it! Having the mules is reassuring and our kids could ride them a little while on the first day (the longest one with 8 hours walking) our 2 guides were very caring for us and even though we don’t speak spanish, it was really nice having them. They cooked for us good hearty meals and gave us a large tarp to put over our tent to protect us from cold and damp. Joel arranged very well the trek for us, he’s very kind and helpful. On the last day after we arrived from the hike, he got us a room and dinner in a local house for a cheap price. I highly recommend his services!
